Before you do this dessert, prepare first the ingredients, which consist of:

½ cup or 1 stick of regular butter

1 cup of white sugar

1 cup of all purpose flour

1 tablespoon of baking powder

¾ cup of milk

3 cups of peeled and sliced fresh peaches  (thickness of slice according to preference)

½ cup of medium brown sugar, firmly packed

½ to 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder

For a little variation and an added nutty taste, add a half cup of chopped pecans. You can also put additional fruit or berries. Good choices are blackberries and blueberries. You may add 1 cup of either in step 6 of this recipe.

Before preparing the peaches and other ingredients, preheat the oven to 350F .

Melt the butter in a medium sized sauté pan over medium heat until it bubbles and is browned. Be careful that the butter does not burn. Slowly pour the butter into an 8×8 inch square baking dish.

In a separate medium bowl, mix together the 1 cup sugar, the 1 cup flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, ½ teaspoon cinnamon and ¾ cup milk. Stir until well-blended.

Pour the batter on top of the melted butter slowly, being careful not to  stir it in. Then, without mixing, arrange the peaches evenly on top of the batter. Sprinkle brown sugar over the peaches in the baking dish.

Bake the cobbler for about 40 to 45 minutes at 350F, or until the pastry top turns golden brown. You will notice that the batter will slightly cover the peaches.

You may serve the cobbler either warm or at room temperature. To make this cobbler more delicious and great for summer, you may top the cobbler with peach ice cream or vanilla ice cream. This recipe is good for six to eight servings.

If you are going to use this easy peach cobbler recipe in winter, you may easily substitute the fresh peaches with either frozen or canned peaches. However, if you will use substitution, you might want to lessen the sugar in the recipe since both the frozen and canned types of peaches already have sweeteners.
